Robert De Niro will play the legendary coach Vince Lombardi in Lombardi movie that is currently being developed by ESPN Films, Andell Entertainment and the NFL.

Eric Roth (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump) is set to write a movie script, the story Lombardi began his career over the years and he managed to change the Green Bay Packers.

The story begins in 1959, when Lombardi was given the first opportunity to become NFL head coach, took over the small town of the Packers, he transformed the NFL’s worst teams into a team which the NFL championship five times. Also, the story highlights the long rivalry that exists between Lombardi and legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry, both assistant at the New York Giants team that lost the 1958 NFL Championship game.
